Dear
friends,
As I write this my family and I have
just arrived back from our summer holiday. We enjoyed our trip to
Scotland and have returned feeling rested and refreshed.
I note that while we have been away a
number of parishioners have been very busy around the church. The rear car
park and adjacent environment have been spruced up. The vestry is now much
more tidy and spacious. I also note that most of the arrangements have now
been made for the installation of our new boiler. May I thank all of those
who have worked so hard over the summer to make St. Leonard’s a pleasant and
safe place to worship and work.
My first Sunday back in the parish I took
a brief walk in the school garden. I soon realised that our parishioners
are not the only ones who have been busy recently. The fruit trees are
laden with apples and pears, a few strawberries remain to be picked and many
of the flowers are in full bloom. God has been hard at work providing food
for the body and for the soul in the gardens, and in the countryside
surrounding us.
I hope you will join us at the end of the
month to give thanks for all God’s provision as we gather for our Harvest
Festival. There will be a school service, a communion on the Sunday and a
special evensong at Old Langho. Please look at the diary in this magazine
for further details.
With every good wish and the hope that
you will enjoy the coming season of ‘mists and mellow fruitfulness’.
